In the 2025 Year in Review, City Manager Shields provides this upbeat message to the community on the City's remarkable progress in 2025:

Dear City of Falls Church Community Members:

On behalf of the City workforce, I am pleased to share our 2025 Year in Review with the community. It provides some highlights, statistics, and pictures that help mark the accomplishments and milestones we achieved together. We organized this report around key priorities of the City Council: Good Governance, Inclusivity, Safety, and Sustainability.

Our cover photo features the new LOVE sculpture in Cherry Hill Park. This is a great collaboration between City staff who designed the sculpture, community members who promoted it, and the Virginia Department of Tourism. It resonates because the recurring theme we hear in the community and employee surveys, is that people love to live and work in the City of Falls Church. Putting it together, loving-where-you-live and loving-where-you-work is a wonderful foundation for accomplishing great things together. This emotional connection to where we live and work is the foundation of a healthy, connected, and meaningful life.

In that sense, this 2025 Year in Review is a love letter to the City of Falls Church. By pausing for a moment to consider some of our shared progress over the past year, we renew our energy and enthusiasm for strong steps forward together into the coming year. Thank you for continuing to build the City of Falls Church community that we love.

Sincerely, Wyatt Shields, City Manager
