City to Unveil New LOVE Letters Sculpture

Following is based on a press release from Falls Church City's Office of Communications:
The City of Falls Church will unveil a new, life-sized LOVE Letters Installation on Wednesday, October 22, at 9:30 a.m. at 300 Park Ave. between City Hall and the Cherry Hill Farmhouse. All are invited.

Friday, October 17, 2025 – Created to reflect the City’s history, commitment to democracy, and value of a welcoming community, the City’s new LOVE installation, “Reflection: Diversity and Inclusivity,” is designed to promote The Little City as a unique travel destination. The LOVE sculpture is located in the heart of the City where annual events across the four seasons and the weekly Farmers Market bring the community together. The sculpture's site is intentionally at the heart of where residents, businesses, and visitors come together. The installation is an extension of the "Virginia is for Lovers" brand, joining the other Virginia Tourism Corporation LOVEworks structures in towns and cities across the Commonwealth.
"The LOVE Sculpture, Reflection: Diversity and Inclusivity, with its unique interactive mirror, is a meaningful and fitting symbol for our City. The City of Falls Church has long been known as a welcoming community with a big heart, and this artwork perfectly captures that spirit,” said City Manager Wyatt Shields.
Stemming from a call for designs from City of Falls Church Government employees, the City Council approved the design in May 2025. Employee artist Ripal Patel’s intent is to allow visitors to reflect on diversity and inclusivity. The “O” depicts diversity through the illustration of people and places. To help bring the visuals of the letter “O” to life, Patel was assisted by well-known City watercolor artist Bill Abel. Inclusivity is represented in the letters, “L”, “V”, and “E” which are made of shiny reflective steel, allowing people to see themselves in the art and feel a part of the LOVE sculpture and the City. The LOVE installation is uniquely interactive by literally reflecting the community in which it stands.
Additional project partners include:
• Composition Systems Inc., vinyl “O” art wrap;
• Colours Imaging, Inc., digitizer of “O” original artwork;
• Department of Public Works Operations, sculpture base;
• DS Metal Works, Inc., letter metal fabricator;
• Falls Church Art & Frame, preserving original concept artwork.
"Virginia is for Lovers is about doing the things you love to do on vacation with the people you love most," said Rita McClenny, President and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. "The new LOVE installation at 300 Park Ave. in the City of Falls Church captures that idea perfectly, and gives you an authentic sense of place. We are excited that the City of Falls Church will help us share the LOVE with travelers and locals alike, helping them to discover for themselves why Virginia is for Lovers.”

Visitors to the City of Falls Church’s LOVE installation are encouraged to share their photos on social media using #LoveCFC and #LoveVA.
