FC Foodie Fundraiser to Support Falls Church Education Foundation, Nov. 18-20
Want to help the Falls Church Education Foundation (FCEF) raise funds to support "wellness, belonging, and excellence across Falls Church City Public Schools, and prepare every student and educator to thrive in the dynamic global landscape"? After all, FCEF has done more than any other local foundation to help elevate the City's public schools to rank among the very best in the nation.
"During the 2024-25 academic school year, FCEF awarded $246,000 to FCCPS and an additional $100,000 in scholarships to local students," the organization says on its website. "Giving is aligned with the three FCCPS pillars: equity of access, staff readiness and preparing students to function in the 21st century."

"Through the generosity of our community and the dedication of our volunteers, educators, and partners, we are committed to ensuring that every student has access to enriching opportunities, vital resources, and support," FCEF says.
FCEF just announced it'll be sponsoring a Falls Church Foodie Trek from Nov. 18-20 to help achieve their 2025 fundraising goals. Participating restaurants (see below) "will give back to FCEF through special deals," the foundation announced. "From breakfast sandwiches to sweet treats, every bite and sip helps support students through FCEF."

Virginia Dream FC Wins Back Virginia Super Soccer League Championship Cup

In an overtime thriller, Virginia Dream FC – the City's own semi-professional soccer club – defeated Great Falls Los Toros 2-1 in the Division 1 finals to return the VSSL Cup back to The Little City and become VSSL Post-Season Tournament Champions, last winning the VSSL Cup in 2023, and for three consecutive years before that.
Playing away at T.J. High School for Science and Technology Nov. 12, the Dream entered the final match with a 5-1-1 record against undefeated Los Toros, at 6-0-1.
The VSSL title had belonged to Virginia Dream every season since its inauguration until last season when arch-rivals Los Toros took home the honors.
"With a chip on their shoulders and revenge on their mind. The Dream controlled possession right from the whistle but gave up the first goal which resulted in a halftime score of 1-0," a press release from the Dream said. "The second half possession and scoring chances created were once again in Virginia Dream’s favor and it finally paid off when Mike Akenkoye put away a rebound from a free kick to equalize the score."

"With the score tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the teams headed to overtime. Both teams were fatigued but Virginia Dream showed heart and desire and shortly after the restart, Cedric Tchoumkeu netted the go-ahead goal. The final score was 2-1 Dream and the VSSL Title is back in 'The Little City'!," the press release announced.
Next Match: 'Win and the Dream is In, Lose and the Dream is Out'
On Saturday, November 22 at 7:30 p.m., Virginia Dream plays in the 4th and final round of US Open Qualifying matches. Win and The Dream is in, lose and The Dream is out.
"The team is looking to build upon last year’s accomplishments in their first ever US Open Cup participation in which they earned a victory over USL1 pro team, Richmond Kickers, and a narrow loss to USL Championship team, Loudoun United," the team said.
