F.C. City Police Investigate Suspicious Death

Following is based on a July 20 F.C. City Police Department press release:

Monday, July 20, 2026 – The City of Falls Church Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the suspicious death of an individual whose body was found by Police Officers the morning of Tuesday, July 14.

At approximately 10:10 a.m., police were dispatched for a welfare check of a guest at the Sonesta Simply Suites at 205 Hillwood Ave. Upon arrival, police were denied entry into the room by its occupant, later identified as Kyle Gosweiler, age 37, of Falls Church, Va. Once officers gained entry into the room, they located the body of a 78-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent’s name is being withheld until next of kin is notified. Gosweiler has been charged with Concealing a Dead Body and Obstruction of Justice. He is currently being held under bond at the Arlington County Detention Center.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia is conducting an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. The death has been classified as suspicious based on factors at the scene, and the circumstances that preceded the death remain under investigation. However, the preliminary investigation indicates that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
