West Falls: 2 New Retailers Coming; Ground Floor Leasing Strong
What's new at the West Falls Development?
A new Thai restaurant and a new bank branch are coming soon, and plenty of ground floor leasing is underway, according to City of Falls Church Mayor Letty Hardi and the project's developer, Hoffman & Associates.
Yesterday Oct. 16, Hoffman & Associates announced that "two new retailers [are] coming to the dynamic West Falls neighborhood" in the City of Falls Church: "Dok Khao Thai Eatery and a Chase Bank branch."
From West Broad Street to the West Falls Church Metro Station, the massive project is in its first of multiple phases, but all is progressing smoothly. According to the City of Falls Church, the West Falls Project "will serve as a gateway to the City, instilling a sense of place through the use of high quality urban design, including a thoughtful interface with the adjacent schools," Meridian High School and Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School.
"Delivering later this year, West Falls will span nearly 10 acres and feature 1.2 million square feet of development at full buildout, making it the largest project in Falls Church's history," a press release from Hoffman & Associates said.
“We’re excited to welcome Dok Khao and Chase Bank to West Falls as we near the completion of this vibrant neighborhood,” said Maria Thompson, president of Hoffman & Associates. “These new additions highlight our commitment to cultivating a community where people can gather, enjoy a variety of dining options and access to neighborhood essentials. We look forward to continuing to expand West Falls into a dynamic destination for visitors and residents to enjoy.”
The press release highlighted the project's latest retail additions:
Dok Khao Thai Eatery serves an array of authentic, made-to-order dishes inspired by the quintessential night markets in Bangkok. Using locally sourced ingredients, the menu features a variety of offerings, including small plates, salads, curries, noodles, and other signature meals. In addition to a diverse and dynamic menu, the restaurant also features gourmet coffee, tea, craft cocktails and a dessert bar.
Dok Khao Thai Eatery:
- Location: 180 West Falls Station Boulevard
- Opening Date: August, 2025.
West Falls also welcomes Chase Bank as it further expands its footprint into the Greater Washington area. Chase is the U.S. consumer and commercial banking business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), serving more than 82 million consumers and 6.4 million small businesses. They provide a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, credit cards, mortgages, auto financing, investment advice, small business loans and payment processing. Customers can choose how and where they want to bank with more than 4,800 branches, more than 15,000 ATMs, plus mobile, online and phone banking options.
Chase Bank:
- Location: 118 West Falls Station Boulevard
- Opening Date: April, 2025.
The West Falls Development Project envisions, “a gathering place for all, with apartments, condominiums, senior living, retail, hotel and a medical office building, along with an outdoor community gathering space in the center of the neighborhood that will provide over 18,000 feet of open space for community use,” according to the developer's website.
In addition to the newly-opened Home2 Suites by Hilton Falls Church, the city’s largest development project is designed to include: The Alder Apartments, The Oak Condominiums, The Reserve at Falls Church by Experience Senior Living, The Wellness Center (medical offices), restaurants and shops, a grocery store, The Commons (central outdoor gathering space), and seasonal community events and programming, according to Hoffman & Associates.
In her Oct. 11 newsletter, Mayor Hardi announced good news on the West End Development's leasing progress so far. "We also heard an update that 70 percent of the ground floor of the Phase 1 development has been leased (see leasing map below), with the apartments to begin pre-leasing this fall and condo sales underway," she wrote, providing the following accompanying graphic:
