Falls Church City Public Schools (FCCPS) invites all members of our community to attend a Special School Board Meeting on Monday, May 5, at 6:00 p.m. at the Learning Stairs in Meridian High School. During this meeting, the School Board will announce and officially welcome the tenth Superintendent of Schools in FCCPS's history.

The new superintendent is scheduled to begin their tenure on July 1, 2025, following the retirement of Dr. Peter J. Noonan, the current superintendent, who has served the district with distinction for eight years.

In August, Noonan announced his retirement at the end of this school year "after dedicating 33 years to public education, including 14 years as a superintendent and eight years leading FCCPS," deciding "to step down to spend more time with his family."

Tonight's meeting represents the culmination of an extensive search process and will include a formal vote by School Board members to approve the hiring, followed by brief remarks from the incoming superintendent. A public reception will take place immediately following the formal proceedings.

Students, families, teachers, staff, and residents are encouraged to attend this milestone occasion in our district's history.
